As I continue to clean and declutter my home, I am also working to declutter all my digital information, whether it is through email or social media. Today, I wanted to share some tips for cleaning up that social media.

With spring around the corner, it is the perfect time to tidy up your digital spaces, especially your social media feeds. A well-curated feed can inspire and energize you, while a cluttered one can drain your energy.

Here are five tips for how to audit and clean up your social media to enhance your overall well-being and online privacy:

1. Audit Your Follows

Scroll through your following list and ask yourself, “Does this account make me happy, informed, or inspired?” If the answer is no, it might be time to hit unfollow. Your social media experience should be positive and enriching, not a source of stress or negativity.

I don’t use Facebook or Instagram, but I do use TikTok and Reddit. These same tips can apply here as well. Specifically, on TikTok, I delete dead or banned accounts or any accounts that look like bots. These also sometimes slip through when I follow people, so I clean up the following, and the followers list. It clears up your feed but will also help with the algorithm and what shows up in your feed.
