Yesterday, we covered Jamie’s story about her experience with stigma while in active addiction and needing medical treatment. We also discussed why stigma negatively impacts individuals who have an addiction.

We’re diving back into the critical topic of stigma in mental health and addiction, focusing on why everyone must get the same fair treatment in healthcare. Laws, rules, and how healthcare works can sometimes make it harder for people to get the help they need because they’re worried about what others might think. This fear can stop people from reaching out for the support they need.

We must change the rules, laws, and healthcare practices to remove these barriers. It’s all about making sure that mental health and addiction are treated just as seriously as physical health. Creating a more understanding and supportive environment ensures everyone gets the care and respect they deserve.
