Change is one of life’s few constants, yet many people dread it — especially in creative fields like writing.

As writers, we find comfort in the familiar:

  • The genres we love.
  • The processes we’ve honed over the years.
  • The trusty tools we use daily.

But what happens when the world around us changes?

History gives us clear examples, such as what happened to Blockbuster and RadioShack. They were once giants, but their refusal to adapt made them relics of the past.

Freelance writers, authors, and many others in the creative fields are facing a new wave of change driven by technology — specifically, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI).

I know this is a controversially hot take.

The idea of AI might seem intimidating. But rather than letting fear hold us back, we should confront it head-on and see the opportunities it brings.

Change is not just a possibility; it’s a constant in our lives. We can’t escape it, and we shouldn’t fear it. Instead, we should learn to embrace it, especially regarding technological advancements like AI.
